South Florida was 5-6 back in late December, but they’ve only managed three scattered wins since then. The Bulls are 1-7 in their last eight, losing to Cincinnati, Wichita State, Tulane, East Carolina, Tulsa, East Carolina again and Memphis.
On Thursday versus Memphis, the Bulls trailed 24-32 at the break. South Florida managed 40 points from there but ended up losing 73-64. Russel Tchewa led the team with his 13 points, six rebounds and 24 minutes of work.
Over on the Temple side, they’ve had some scattered success this season but haven’t really been able to maintain win streaks for too long. The Owls are 3-2 in their last five, beating SMU, Cincinnati and Tulane with losses to Memphis and Houston otherwise.
Matched up against Houston on Thursday, the Owls fell behind 23-33 in the first half. Temple was drilled 23-51 in the second in an 84-46 loss. Nick Jourdain and Jahlil White each scored 10 bench points to lead the team, combining for eight rebounds as well.
The Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last four at home and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 overall. Temple is 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Bulls are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 after an ATS win and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall. The under is 4-1 in South Florida’s last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Temple. The Owls really had no hope of winning a road game versus Houston in their last matchup, but outside of that they haven’t played too badly lately. Temple did lose 52-49 the last time these teams met up back on February 7, so there’s a good revenge opportunity in the works here.
As for South Florida, they’ve been below 70 points for 13 straight games so they’re going to want to keep the scoring low here. If Temple can find a good scoring rhythm early though, I think they’ll be okay on a cover.
