Wichita State opened up the year on a .500 run, going 9-9 over their first 18 games. The Shockers are a sketchy 4-3 since then, with wins over SMU (twice), East Carolina and Tulsa during that time alongside losses to Tulane, Houston and UCF.
In the SMU rematch on Sunday, Wichita State scored 38 points in the first half, 37 in the second and 16 across two overtime periods for a 91-89 win. Kenny Pohto led the team on 28 points with eight rebounds.
Temple Owls
Over on the Temple side, they hit a 10-8 run across their first 18 games of the year. The Owls are on a 4-4 run since then. The wins have come versus East Carolina, Houston, South Florida and UCF; the losses were to Memphis, Houston, SMU and Memphis again.
In the Memphis rematch on Sunday, the Owls were down 36-33 in the locker room. Temple didn’t end up getting any closer on a 50-44 second half and lost 86-77. Leading the team in scoring was Khalif Battle with 25 points and five rebounds.

I’ll probably lean toward Temple in this one. You could make a good case either way, though. The Owls couldn’t handle Memphis in a tough road matchup during their last outing, but overall the team hasn’t played too badly lately. Temple has scored 71 or more points in four of their last five but they’ve lost three straight games. As for Wichita State, they’ve been at 85 or more points in four of their last six games so this one will probably be a higher-scoring affair. I like Temple to hang around at home though and eventually power out the cover. Should be a great matchup regardless.
