Tennessee State vs Tennessee Tech 1/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and the Tennessee State Tigers meet Monday in college basketball action from Gentry Complex. Tennessee Tech is 4-11 on the season so far. The Eagles beat TN-Martin in their last outing. As for Tennessee State, they’re 6-10 and fell to Morehead State in their most recent game. Tennessee Tech managed just three wins over their first 11 games, taking out Oakwood, Lipscomb and Montreat along the way. After losses to Wright State, Cincinnati and Belmont the Eagles beat TN-Martin on Saturday. 

In the TN-Martin game, the Eagles were down 42-36 by halftime. A 40-28 run in the second half ensured Tennessee Tech got the 76-70 win, though. Leading scorer Kenny White put up 13 points, and Amadou Sylla doubled on 11 points and 12 rebounds. 

Over on the Tigers’ side, they stumbled to a 1-6 start before taking out IUPUI, Lipscomb, Charleston Southern and Campbellsville-Harrodsburg in a five-game stretch. The Tigers are just 1-3 in their last four games however and lost to Morehead State on Saturday. 

In the Morehead State game, the Tigers were down by 10 at the break and couldn’t catch back up in a 71-64 defeat. Leading scorer Kassim Nicholson put up 18 points with 11 rebounds. Marcus Fitzgerald added 15 points as well. 

The Tigers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven at home and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. Tennessee State is 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 Monday games and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall. Tennessee Tech is 7-2 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up win. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Tennessee Tech. The Eagles have posted a 2-5 record over their last seven games, but the good news is that they’re not scoring too badly. Tennessee Tech has hit 69 or more points in five of those outings, and 76 or more in each of their last two. So long as Tennessee State doesn’t catch fire early here, I think the Eagles can keep the pace and cover. Should be a fun matchup regardless.
