The Murray State Racers and the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles meet Saturday in college basketball action from Eblen Center.
Murray State enters this one at 13-11 so far. The Racers are 1-2 in their last three and coming off a loss to Jacksonville State. As for Tennessee Tech, they’re 4-22 this year. Murray State opened the year at 4-6, and since then they’ve slowly been crawling away from the .500 mark. The Racers hit 12-9, but since have lost two of their last three games. Those losses have come courtesy of Eastern Illinois and Jacksonville State.
In the 87-74 loss to Jacksonville State, Murray State’s Tevin Brown posted 22 points with six rebounds and four assists, and Dionte Bostick put up 15 points with five assists and four rebounds. Chico Carter chipped in 12 points in that one as well.
Over on the Tennessee Tech side, the wins have been few and far between. The Golden Eagles haven’t been able to get victories in consecutive games yet this year. After their most recent three-game losing streak, Tennessee Tech managed a win over Austin Peay.
In the Thursday win over Austin Peay, Tennessee Tech’s Jr. Clay put up 31 points with six assists and three rebounds. Keishawn Davidson was also in double-figures there with 21 points, six assists and two rebounds.
The Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. Tennessee Tech is 4-1 ATS in their last five as a home favorite and the over is 6-0 in their last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Racers are 36-16 ATS in their last 52 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. Murray State is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 overall and the under is 6-2 in their last eight Saturday games.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Tennessee Tech here. The last time these teams met up back on January 23, Murray State took a 72-63 win. The good news for Tennessee Tech is that they’ve been scoring pretty well lately, with 72 or more points in three of their last four games. If the Eagles can keep up that offensive pace I can see them banging out a cover.
