The Colorado Buffaloes and the Tennessee Volunteers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Bridgestone Arena. Colorado is 1-1 this season so far and lost to Grambling State in their last outing. As for Tennessee, they’re 1-0 following an opener win over Tennessee Tech. Colorado kicked off their season back on Monday versus UC Riverside. The Buffaloes got off to a 46-28 halftime lead and cruised to the 82-66 win. Leading scorer J’Vonne Hadley posted 16 points with eight boards. KJ Simpson added 14 points as well.
In game two versus Grambling State, Colorado was playing from behind for much of the time. Following a 46-32 deficit at the break, the Buffaloes ended up with an 83-74 loss. Simpson posted 16 points, and Nique Clifford added 15 points.
Over on the Tennessee side, they had some successes in 2021-22, going 27-8 overall. The Volunteers were 14-4 in the SEC for a third-place finish and eventually won the conference tourney. Tennessee was eliminated in the Second round of the NCAA Tournament, though.
In their first action of the 2022-23 campaign, Tennessee was up 27-16 by halftime against Tennessee Tech. The Volunteers kept it up in the second half for a 75-43 win. Tyreke Key led the way on 17 points, and Zakai Zeigler added 12 points.
The Buffaloes are 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and the over is 6-0 in their last overall. The Volunteers are 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral-site games.
PICK: I’m going to try Tennessee. Probably not touching it, though. The Volunteers’ opener against Tennessee Tech wasn’t exactly the prettiest game ever but it got the job done. Tennessee shot 40 percent from the field and 31.8 from 3-point range along with 37 rebounds and 21 assists. The Volunteers held the Eagles to 32.5 percent shooting from the other side. Colorado is coming off a spotty performance but they still shot 40.3 percent against Grambling State. Tennessee will be a much tougher matchup.
