The New Orleans Privateers will travel to the American Bank Center to take on the Texas A&M-CC Islanders this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The New Orleans Privateers won their 8th straight game and improved to 12-8 on the season after defeating the McNeese State Cowboys, 84-78, this past Sunday. New Orleans trailed by a 31-28 margin at halftime, however, the Privateers were outstanding offensively in the 2nd half and was able to hold off McNeese State after taking a 77-73 lead with 2:27 left in regulation. New Orleans shot 48.3% from the field & 23.1% from beyond the arc while allowing McNeese State to shoot 45.2% from the field & 35.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for New Orleans was Derek St. Hilaire who had 23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, New Orleans is averaging 76.7 ppg on 46.7% shooting from the field. The Privateers are averaging 4.3 three-pointers per game on 32.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, New Orleans has been led by Derek St. Hilaire (20.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.8 spg), Troy Green (14.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.9 apg, 2.0 spg), Tyson Jackson (8.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.1 apg), & Daniel Sackey (7.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, New Orleans is allowing their opponents to average 72.7 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Privateers have a rebound margin of 0.1 and a turnover margin of 0.8.

The Texas A&M-CC Islanders dropped to 16-6 on the season after being defeated by the Northwestern State Demons, 90-76, this past Saturday. Texas A&M-CC struggled defensively against Northwestern State and could not fight back after the Demons took a 78-71 lead with 2:35 left in regulation. Texas A&M-CC shot 41.7% from the field & 22.2% from beyond the arc while allowing Northwestern State to shoot 49.2% from the field & 45.5% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Islanders was Terrion Murdix who had 21 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Texas A&M-CC is averaging 78.5 ppg on 45.9% shooting from the field. The Islanders are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Texas A&M-CC has been led by Isaac Mushila (15.2 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.1 spg), Trevian Tennyson (12.5 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 1.7 apg), Terrion Murdix (8.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.8 spg), & Myles Smith (8.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.9 apg).

Defensively, Texas A&M-CC is allowing their opponents to average 68.8 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Islanders have a rebound margin of 3.6 and a turnover margin of 4.0.

The Privateers are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The Islanders are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss, however, just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games.

New Orleans has been led by their offense which ranks 59th in scoring offense & 57th in FG%, however, the Privateers have struggled defensively as they come into this game ranked just 270th in scoring defense & 158th in defensive FG%. Texas A&M-CC has also been led by their offense which ranks 31st in scoring offense & 89th in FG%, however, have been nothing more than average on the defensive end as the Islanders come into this game ranked just 173rd in scoring defense & 140th in defensive FG%.

New Orleans continues to impress during their winning streak, however, this is still a team that is just 2-5 on the road this season and at times and can struggle on the defensive end. Texas A&M-CC is an impressive 8-1 at home and as they have an offense that I think will have success against the Privateers, I think the play here is to take the Islanders to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
