The Kentucky Wildcats and the Texas A&M Aggies meet in college basketball action from the Reed Arena on Wednesday night.
The Kentucky Wildcats will look to build on their 107-79 win over Tennessee last time out. Oscar Tshiebwe leads the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding with 16.5 PPG and 14.9 RPG, averaging a monster double-double per game while TyTy Washington Jr. has 14.5 PPG with 4.2 RPG and 4.8 APG. Kellan Grady has 11.8 PPG and Sahvir Wheeler has 10.3 PPG with a team-high 7.3 APG to lead Kentucky in assists this season. Keion Brooks Jr. has 10.6 PPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Kentucky so far this season. As a team, Kentucky is averaging 84 PPG on 50.5% shooting from the field, 36.1% from three and 73.6% from the foul line while allowing 63.1 PPG on 39.9% shooting from the field and 31.3% from three this season.
The Texas A&M Aggies will try to build on their eight-game win streak after a 67-64 win over Missouri last time out. Quenton Jackson leads the Aggies in scoring with 12.9 PPG while Marcus Williams has 10.2 PPG and a team-high 4.1 APG to lead Texas A&M in assists and Henry Coleman III has 11 PPG and 5.3 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Texas A&M this season. Tyrece Radford has 9.5 PPG with a team-high 5.4 RPG to lead the Aggies on the glass. As a team, Texas A&M is averaging 76 PPG on 46.9% shooting from the field, 37.4% from three and 63.9% from the foul line while allowing 62.9 PPG on 40.8% shooting from the field and 32.2% from three this season.
Kentucky is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 road games against a team with a winning home record. Texas A&M is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a home underdog and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games against a team with a winning record.
I get the case to be made either way here, but I think my lean is going towards Kentucky. It’ll be interesting to see how the Wildcats perform on the road, as we’ve seen the good and the bad from the Wildcats away from Rupp Arena this season, but side-by-side, apples to apples, the Wildcats are the more talented team. When A&M’s been a home underdog, it’s usually for a reason as they’re 1-5 ATS in their last 6 as a home dog. I’ll side with Kentucky laying the points in this one.
