Texas A&M vs Northwestern State 12/27/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Northwestern State Demons and the Texas A&M Aggies meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Reed Arena. Northwestern State enters this matchup at 8-4 overall. The Demons lost to Baylor in their last game. As for Texas A&M, they’re sitting at 6-5 after a loss to Wofford last Tuesday. Northwestern State has taken losses to Texas Tech, Illinois State, Rice and Baylor so far this year. The wins otherwise have come versus OBU, TCU, Illinois State, Central AR, Bethune-Cookman, Stephen F. Austin, Southern Miss and LA-Monroe. 

In the Baylor game last Tuesday, the Demons were within two points at halftime. Northwestern State fell behind 34-26 in the second half for a 58-48 loss. Demarcus Sharp doubled up on 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Ja’Monta Black had 17 points as well. 

Over on the Texas A&M side, their wins have come versus LA-Monroe, Abilene Christian, Loyola IL, DePaul, SMU and Oregon State. The Aggies’ losses have come versus Murray State, Colorado, Boise State, Memphis and Wofford.

Matched up against Wofford last week, the Aggies took a 30-26 lead into the second half. Texas A&M couldn’t keep the pace and got outscored 41-32 from there in a 67-62 loss. Wade Taylor led the team with his 20 points and three assists. 

PICK: I’m probably sticking with Northwestern State in this one. The Demons didn’t play horribly against a very good Baylor team in their last outing, but Northwestern State did shoot a disappointing 31.7 percent from the field with a 41-34 rebounding deficit. Prior to that outing the Demons had been on a nice scoring run with 70 or more points in seven straight games. As for Texas A&M, they’ve been a mixed bag this year overall and faded in the second half against Wofford. I do like the Aggies to control the game here, with Northwestern State ultimately keeping pace and covering.
