The Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Texas A&M Aggies meet Friday in college basketball action from Reed Arena. Prairie View enters this one at 4-8 overall. The Panthers lost to New Mexico in their last game. As for Texas A&M, they’re currently 7-5 after a win over Northwestern State on Tuesday. Prairie View managed to go 4-2 over their first six games this year, losing to TN-Martin and UTSA. The Panthers are on a six-game losing streak right now versus Oklahoma State, Rice, Northwestern, UIC, Montana and New Mexico, however.

In the New Mexico game last Tuesday, the Panthers were drilled 47-25 in the first half. Prairie View took a 47-38 deficit in the second half and lost 94-63 in a blowout. Tops in scoring was William Douglas with 17 points.

Over on the Aggies’ side, they went 4-2 over their first six as well, losing to only Murray State and Colorado. Texas A&M is 3-3 since then with victories over SMU, Oregon State and Northwestern State.

On Tuesday in the Northwestern State matchup, the Aggies trailed 33-28 by halftime. Texas A&M got it together on a 36-19 second-half run and won 64-52. Henry Coleman posted 24 points and Tyrece Radford doubled on 21 points and 10 boards.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Texas A&M. The Aggies started slow in their last game versus Northwestern State, but eventually they shot 42 percent from the field with 45 total rebounds. Texas A&M’s 3-point shooting was an abysmal 1-of-12 (8.3 percent), however. The Aggies have scored 64 or fewer points in each of their last two games, which follows a string of 67 or more in 10 straight to start the season. Prairie View isn’t a big-scoring team themselves, so Texas A&M should be in the driver’s seat for the whole game.
