The Abilene Christian Wildcats and the Texas A&M Aggies meet Saturday in college basketball action from Reed Arena. Here’s a Texas A&M vs Abilene Christian prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Texas A&M vs Abilene Christian pick.

Abilene Christian Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats’ season kicked off with a 4-3 run featuring losses to Middle Tennessee, Kennesaw State and Montana State. Abilene Christian is 4-2 since then with wins over Omaha, New Mexico State, Hardin-Simmons and Texas Southern.

In the Texas Southern game on Saturday, the Wildcats came out of halftime with a 42-35 edge. Abilene Christian was outscored by three from there but held on for the win 69-65. Tops in scoring was Leonardo Bettiol with 22 points and six boards.

Texas A&M Aggies Betting Preview

Over on the Aggies’ side, they went 4-2 in their first six games with losses to UCF and Oregon along the way. Texas A&M has beaten Creighton, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Purdue and Houston Christian.

In the Houston Christian matchup, the Aggies were ahead comfortably 35-23 going into the second. Texas A&M hit a 42-22 run the rest of the way in a 77-45 blowout win. Hayden Hefner topped the team on his 19 points and two steals.

Why the Texas A&M Aggies will win

  • Texas A&M has won each of its last eight games against non-Conference opponents at Reed Arena.
  • Texas A&M has won the first half in each of its last six day games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Why the Abilene Christian Wildcats will win

  • Abilene Christian has won six of its last eight day games against non-Conference opponents.
  • Abilene Christian has won the first half in each of its last five day games.

Texas A&M vs Abilene Christian Prediction

I’ll stay with the Aggies, even though it’s a pretty hefty line. Texas A&M dispatched a struggling Houston Christian team pretty easily in their last game, hitting a nice 47.1 percent from the field with a dominant edge on the boards 52-25 and just nine turnovers. The Aggies have been looking good over this six-game win streak. They’ve hit 70 or more points in all but one game (57 versus Wake Forest) and have held opponents below 68 points in four straight.

As for Abilene Christian, they had 41 rebounds in their win over a 2-10 Texas Southern team but also coughed up 19 turnovers and shot just 3-of-21 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range. The Wildcats have failed to hit 70 points in three of the last four games, and I don’t think they’ve got the gas to keep any sort of pace with the Aggies. Texas A&M should roll here.
