Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas managed a decent 12-6 start over their first 18 games, with some tough matchups mixed in. The Razorbacks have since beaten Ole Miss, LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Kentucky in the latest seven-game stretch.
On Saturday versus Mississippi State, Arkansas trailed 34-25 going into the break. The Razorbacks got better with 39 points in the second but still lost 70-64. Anthony Black was the top scorer with 23 points and five rebounds.
Texas A&M Aggies
Over on the Texas A&M side, they hit a 13-5 run in their first 18 outings. The Aggies have since hit a solid 5-2 stretch. The wins in that time came versus Auburn, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Auburn again and LSU. The losses were to Kentucky and Arkansas otherwise.
Matched up against LSU on Saturday, the Aggies drilled the Tigers 41-17 in the first half. Texas A&M cruised on 33 points from there and won easily 74-62. Topping the team scorers was Wade Taylor with 23 points and four assists.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’m going to stick with Texas A&M in this one. The Aggies are coming off a nice win over LSU, shooting 47.6 percent from the floor, 81.3 percent from the line (26-of-32) and posting just seven turnovers. Texas A&M has revenge in mind after the last time these teams met up on January 31 at Bud Walton Arena. The Razorbacks powered out an 81-70 win in that one thanks to a 42-34 first half. Arkansas has been below 70 points in five of their last seven games, so if Texas A&M can start fast and set the pace here I think they’ll be okay. Should be a great matchup regardless.
