The Marshall Thundering Herd and the Texas State Bobcats meet Thursday in college basketball action from Strahan Coliseum. Marshall enters this matchup at 15-4 overall. The Herd beat Old Dominion in their last game. As for Texas State, they’re 10-9 this year after a loss to LA-Monroe on Saturday. Marshall Thundering Herd
Marshall was 12-2 after 14 games this year, losing to only Queens NC and UNC Greensboro along the way. The Herd are 3-2 since then with wins over Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss and Old Dominion in that time.
In the Old Dominion matchup on Saturday, the Herd trailed 37-34 going into the second half. Marshall rallied for a 39-28 run from there and won it 73-65. Tops in scoring was Taevion Kinsey with 24 points and eight assists.
Texas State Bobcats
Over on the Texas State side, they went 7-7 to start out the year with losses to Washington State, UTSA, Hawaii, Rice, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Sam Houston and LA-Monroe. The Bobcats are 3-2 since then with losses to Troy and LA-Monroe.
In the second game versus LA-Monroe, the Bobcats were up 25-22 at the break. Texas State fell behind 39-33 in the second and lost 61-58. Mason Harrell was the leading team scorer with 17 points and three assists.

I’ll probably stick with Marshall. The Herd started a little slowly versus a pretty decent Old Dominion team in their last outing, but to their credit Marshall pulled out their third straight win. Marshall has scored 73 or more points in four straight outings as well. As for Texas State, they haven’t exactly been blowing up the scoreboard; the Bobcats have hit 64 or fewer points in six straight games. If Texas State doesn’t get off to a good start in this one I don’t think they’ll keep up on a cover pace for long.
