Kansas State Wildcats

The Wildcats got off to a nice 8-2 start over their first 10 games this year, beating Bellarmine, South Dakota State, Providence, Central Arkansas, Oral Roberts, North Alabama, Villanova and LSU. After a loss to Nebraska, Kansas State took out Wichita State, Chicago State, UCF and West Virginia.
In the West Virginia matchup on Tuesday, the Wildcats were in trouble with a 42-40 deficit at halftime. Kansas State surged from there however, hitting a 41-25 run in an 81-67 comeback win. Leading scorer Cam Carter put up 23 points with three rebounds, four assists and 10-of-10 from the line.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

Over on the Red Raiders’ side, they lost just two of their first seven games this year versus Villanova and Butler (OT). Since then it’s been a nice eight-game win streak over Omaha, Oral Roberts, Vanderbilt, TX-Arlington, Sam Houston, North Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma State.

Matched up against Oklahoma State in their latest outing, the Red Raiders managed a 40-31 edge going into the second half. Texas Tech cruised from there on a 50-42 run and took the win 90-73. Tops in scoring was Pop Isaacs with 24 points, five rebounds and four assists.

ANDREW’S FREE KANSAS STATE VS TEXAS TECH PREDICTION

I’m staying with Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are on a great run these days and coming off a nice offensive outing in the Oklahoma State game. Texas Tech put up 59.3 percent shooting in that one with 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from 3-point range and 17 team assists. The Red Raiders have scored 76 or more points in all eight games of this current win streak.

As for Kansas State, they’ve been playing great defense during their own modest four-game win streak, giving up fewer than 68 or more points in each. Saturday’s game will mark a big uptick in competition though, and I don’t think the Wildcats wil have the gas to cover.
