The Lindenwood Lions and the Texas Tech Red Raiders meet Tuesday in college basketball action from United Supermarkets Arena. Here’s a Texas Tech vs Lindenwood prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Texas Tech vs Lindenwood pick.

Lindenwood Lions Betting Preview

The Lions continued to improve last year in their (relatively) new home of the Ohio Valley Conference. Following a rough showing in 2023-24 where Lindenwood limped to a 9-22 overall run and a 3-15 result in the conference, the Lions managed to pull themselves to .500 overall with a 16-16 overall record. Lindenwood hit that same clip in OVC play as well, going 10-10 to finish in sixth place behind Southeast Missouri State, SIU Edwardsville, Tennessee State, Little Rock and Tennessee Tech. The Lions were initially going to be ineligible for postseason play until the 2026-27 season due to NCAA rules regarding transitioning from Division II to Division I, but they’ve now earned that opportunity a year early. Considering that, last season was quite a nice step forward. Lindenwood finished on a 4-2 stretch during the regular season then beat Morehead State in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The Lions would lose their second game versus Tennessee State, however.

This year Lindenwood gets head coach Kyle Gerdeman back in his seventh year on the sidelines. He’ll retain OVC Freshman of the Year Jadis Jones (12.5 PPG), who entered the transfer portal but returned to the Lions after not getting the level of interest that he desired. Jones put up double-digits in 24 of Lindenwood’s 33 games last season and made Second Team All-OVC in the process. He’ll be joined by last year’s leading scorer Anias Futrell, who notched 12.8 PPG and 6.8 RPG in the 2024-25 campaign.

Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Preview

Over on the Texas Tech side, they had a nice regular season in 2024-25 and managed to make some noise in the national tournament. The Red Raiders went a nice 28-9 overall with a 15-5 stretch in a crowded Big 12, which put the team behind only Houston (19-1) in the standings). Texas Tech closed the regular season with three straight wins, then beat Baylor in the conference tourney before an early exit versus Arizona. Following a berth in the NCAA Tournament, the Raiders beat UNC Wilmington, Drake and Arkansas ahead of an Elite Eight loss to Florida on March 29.

This year the Red Raiders had some holes to fill ahead of head coach Grant McCasland’s third season. Texas Tech retains Big 12 Player of the Year JT Toppin, but he’s the only starter to be back in the fold. The good news is that he’ll be joined by Christian Anderson, who made lots of progress last year and developed into one of the top players on the team. That said, Elijah Hawkins, Chance McMillian, Kerwin Walton and Darrion Williams have all departed after that Elite Eight run.

Texas Tech vs Lindenwood Prediction

I’m likely going to take a stab on Lindenwood. The Lions lost some major production in the offseason—namely guards Reggie Bass (12.2 PPG) and Markeith Browning (12.5 PPG)—but they’ve still got a pretty good-looking roster in store for the season. Lindenwood returns six players, including two of their three highest scorers from last year. The Lions have a legitimate shot at getting over the .500 hump and legitimately making some noise in the OVC this season.

As for Texas Tech, they should be pretty darn good again this season—even with the heavy turnover on the roster. The Red Raiders are a bit inexperienced and lack some depth across the roster however, which could put a damper on their lofty expectations this season. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes, but it’s sure to be an interesting year.
