Prairie View didn’t have much luck through their first three games last week. The Panthers kicked off with an 87-68 loss to Saint Mary’s, then fell 92-76 to San Francisco. After that it was a 77-49 loss to Michigan on Saturday to drop the team to 0-3.
On Sunday versus Oklahoma State, Prairie View lost another one. The Panthers managed just 15 points in the first half (to the Cowboys’ 38), but got better from there in an eventual 72-59 loss. D’Rell Roberts was the lead scorer there with 27 points, two rebounds and four assists.
Over on the Texas Tech side, they got off to a good start in their opener versus North Florida, scoring 50 first-half points in an eventual 89-74 win. Bryson Williams was the team’s leading scorer with 22 points and seven boards in just 18 minutes.
Game two was another good win for the Red Raiders. Texas Tech rode a 44-31 advantage in both halves toward an 88-62 win. Kevin McCullar was the high man in that one with 24 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
Texas Tech is 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Monday games. The Raiders are 8-18 ATS in their last 26 overall.
Meanwhile, Prairie View is 1-4 ATS in the last five road games and 16-7-2 ATS in their last 25 overall. the Panthers are 4-1 ATS in the last five Monday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Texas Tech. The Raiders put up a pretty dominant effort against Grambling State, out-rebounding the Tigers 41-23 and shooting 45.9 percent from the floor. Grambling State’s 24 turnovers and 13-of-20 mark from the line didn’t help their cause either. All things considered in this next one I think Texas Tech has more than enough offensive gas to cover over the Panthers.
