The TCU Horned Frogs and the Texas Longhorns meet in college basketball action from the T-Mobile Center on Thursday afternoon.

The TCU Horned Frogs come into the conference tournament as the #5 seed, finishing the year at 19-11 overall including 8-10 in Big 12 conference play. Mike Miles leads the Horned Frogs in scoring with 15.1 PPG and 4 APG while Emanuel Miller has 10.5 PPG with a team-high 6.2 RPG to lead the Horned Frogs on the glass and Damion Baugh also has 10.6 PPG with ateam-high 4.2 APG this season. As a team, TCU is averaging 68.4 PPG on 44% shooting from the field, 29.9% from three and 67.7% from the foul line while allowing 64.8 PPG on 42% shooting from the field and 31.3% from three this season.

The Texas Longhorns enter the tourney as the #4 seed, finishing the year 21-10 overall and 10-8 in conference play this season. Timmy Allen leads Texas in scoring and rebounding with 12.2 PPG and 6.5 RPG while Marcus Carr has 11 PPG with a team-high 3.2 APG to lead the Longhorns in the assist department and Andrew Jones has 10.9 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Texas so far this season. Courtney Ramey has 9.3 PPG and Tre Mitchell has 8.7 PPG. As a team, Texas is averaging 68.6 PPG on 44.3% shooting from the field, 32.2% from three and 75.3% from the foul line while allowing 59.5 PPG on 41.2% shooting from the field and 31.6% from three this season.

TCU is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games. Texas is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 16-5 in their last 21 Thursday games.

I get the case to be made for TCU and the points, but the Horned Frogs just don’t score enough to really give the points a lot of worth in a spot like this, even in the conference tournament. Texas has had their ups and downs, but they’re the better team and are really well-coached and if Texas can’t get it done here, we may have to lift the lid on the panic button going into the tournament. I’ll side with Texas laying the points here.
