The UNC Greensboro Spartans and the Citadel Bulldogs meet Thursday in college basketball action from McAllister Field House. UNC Greensboro is 10-5 so far and coming off a win over Wofford. UNC Greensboro started off their year at 7-2 with losses to only UMass and FIU. After a 1-3 stretch with losses to Tennessee, Towson and Furman, the Spartans took out VMI and Wofford in their last two games.
In the Wofford matchup back on Monday, UNC Greensboro was down 28-18 at halftime. The Spartans rallied on a 40-26 run from there to take the 58-54 comeback win. Kobe Langley led the way on 17 points with five rebounds.
Over on the Citadel side, they posted a 6-3 run out of the gate this year with losses to Presbyterian, Duke and UNC Asheville. It’s been a four-game losing streak to SC State, Manhattan, Western Carolina and Chattanooga from there.
In the Chattanooga game Saturday, the Bulldogs were outscored 36-31 in the first half and 49-36 in the second for an 85-67 loss. Stephen Clark was the team’s top scorer with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Bulldogs are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 at home and 4-1 ATS in their last five on Thursday. The under is 18-7 in the Citadel’s last 25 overall.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 road games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight Thursday games. UNCG is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four overall.
PICK: I’m probably sticking with UNC Greensboro. The Spartans have scored more than 62 points just once over the last four games, but they’ve still got a 3-1 record in that stretch thanks to solid defensive efforts. This one’s probably not going to be a super high-scoring affair either, unless the Citadel really gets going. Should be an interesting matchup overall, but I think UNCG has a better cover shot.
