The Western Michigan Broncos and the Toledo Rockets meet Friday in college basketball action from Savage Arena. Western Michigan is 4-10 overall this year. The Broncos lost to Kent State in their last game. As for Toledo, they’re 9-5 on the year after a loss to Ball State. Western Michigan went 3-7 over their first 10 games, beating only Goshen, Houston Christian and Concordia MI. The Broncos are 1-3 in their last four with losses to Iowa State, Wisconsin and Kent State.

On Tuesday versus Kent State, the Broncos were down 38-26 by halftime. Western Michigan posted a 46-42 run in the second but still lost 80-72. Tray Maddox led the team on 18 points with five rebounds and five assists.

Over on the Toledo side, they were 7-3 after 10 games this year, taking losss to UMKC, East Carolina and George Mason. The Rockets are 2-2 since then with wins over Vermont and Lourdes alongside losses to Marshall and Ball State.

Matched up against Ball State on Tuesday, the Rockets trailed by three points going into the second half. Toledo was outscored 50-46 from there and lost 90-83. RayJ Dennis was the lead team scorer on 21 points and six assists.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Toledo. The line’s a little too thick to mess with, though. The Rockets have had mixed results in the win column lately, but they’re still scoring quite well. Toledo has hit 69 or more points in all 14 games so far this year. Western Michigan has given up a combined 156 points over their last two games, so that bodes well for the Toledo offense. If the Rockets play well here I don’t think they’ll have too many issues.
