Towson vs Drexel 1/29/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Drexel Dragons and the Towson Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from SECU Arena. Drexel is fresh off a Thursday game versus James Madison. In that one the Dragons won by six points. As for Towson, they played Delaware in their Thursday matchup. That game ended up getting suspended in the second half. Drexel has been hovering around .500 for most of the year. The team started out a 4-5 through nine games and then hit a 4-3 stretch to even things back up. Drexel was 1-2 in three games heading into Thursday’s matchup, coming off a loss to William & Mary. 

In the Thursday game versus James Madison, the Dragons posted a 43-40 advantage in the first half and a 45-42 run from there in an 88-82 win. Leading the scoring was Amari Williams on 21 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. 

Over on the Towson side, they hit a 9-5 run to start the year. The Tigers would then win five straight over Northeastern, Hofstra, Elon, William & Mary and Charleston. After a loss to UNC Wilmington the Tigers beat Delaware on Monday. 

In Thursday’s home rematch versus Delaware, Towson was down 38-29 with 18:42 remaining in the game. A handful of players had fallen to the floor in the first half, and officials decided to suspend the game due to unsafe court conditions. A makeup date wasn’t initially announced.

The Tigers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 overall. The over is 9-3 in Towson’s last 12 Saturday games. 

Meanwhile, the Dragons are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine Saturday games. The over is 6-1 in Drexel’s last seven Saturday games. 

PICK: I’m going to try Drexel here. The Dragons posted a nice bounce-back victory over James Madison on Thursday. Drexel has now hit 75 or more points in each of their last three games, going 2-1 in that stretch. As for Towson, they’re coming off a weird experience with the suspended game but they’ve been scoring well over their current 6-1 run. I like this game to be a higher-total affair, and I think the Dragons can stick to the cover pace. Should be an interesting matchup.
