The LIU Sharks and the Towson Tigers meet in college basketball action from SECU Arena on Thursday night.
The LIU Sharks come into this game looking to bounce back from a 75-67 loss to Delaware last time out. Ty Flowers leads the Sharks in scoring with 15.3 PPG along with 5.8 RPG while Eral Penn has 14.5 PPG with 6.5 RPG and a team-high 2.3 APG as well this season. Isaac Kante has 11.2 PPG with a team-high 8.7 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for LIU as the Sharks’ top rebounder. Kyndall Davis also has 9.5 PPG and 3.5 RPG as well this season. As a team, LIU is averaging 65.3 PPG on 39.2% shooting from the field, 30.1% from three and 69.1% from the foul line while allowing 79.8 PPG on 44.2% shooting from the field and 31.4% from three this season.
The Towson Tigers will be out to add to a 73-58 win over New Mexico last time out. Cameron Holden leads Towson in scoring and rebounding, averaging a double-double per game with 16.6 PPG and 11 RPG with 2.7 APG while Terry Nolan Jr. has 13.4 PPG and a team-high 3.1 APG this season. Nicolas Timberlake has 13 PPG with 3.9 RPG as well to cap of the trio of double-digit scorers for Towson so far this season while Juwan Gray and Jason Gibson each have 9 PPG as well this season. As a team, Towson is averaging 70.7 PPG on 41.6% shooting from the ield, 30.3% from three and 69.7% from the foul line while allowing 63.1 PPG on 40.1% shooting from the field and 32.1% from three this season.
I get that this is unfamiliar territory, laying a decent amount with the Tigers, but side by side, the Tigers have played the tougher schedule and have actually fared well over the course of it while LIU has been beat up without really having to deal with all that much. I’ll side with Towson in this one as I just feel like the Tigers getting a double-digit win and cover is more likely than success with LIU and the points.
