The UCF Knights and the Tulane Green Wave meet in AAC college basketball action from the Devlin Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
The UCF Knights will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 75-61 win over Cincinnati last time out. Darin Green Jr. leads the Knights in scoring with 13.4 PPG while Darius Perry has 11.2 PPG with 3.9 RPG and a team-high 4.3 APG to lead the Knights in assists. Brandon Mahan also has 10.6 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for UCF. C.J. Walker has 8.1 PPG with 5.5 RPG and Cheikh Mbacke Diong also has 5.8 RPG to lead UCF on the boards this season. As a team, UCF is averaging 70.3 PPG on 42.8% shooting from the field, 35.1% from three and 71.2% from the foul line while allowing 67.3 PPG on 42% shooting from the field and 30.2% from three this season.
The Tulane Green Wave will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 75-70 loss to Temple last time out. Jalen Cook leads Tulane in scoring and assists with 18 PPG along with 3.5 APG while Jaylen Forbes has 16.6 PPG with 5.1 RPG and Kevin Cross has 14.1 PPG with a team-high 6.6 RPG and 3.3 APG to lead the Green Wave in rebounding and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Tulane so far this season. As a team, Tulane is averaging 73.4 PPG on 43.8% shooting from the field, 37.4% from three and 75.2% from the foul line while allowing 71.7 PPG on 42.3% shooting from the field and 34.1% from three this season.
UCF is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Tulane is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up loss and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS loss while the over is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall.
I get the case to be made for UCF here in a pick ‘em spot as the Knights have been playing arguably the far better basketball in the last couple of weeks and maybe, just maybe, a tournament run could get the Knights into the Big Dance. However, Tulane has work to do to even get in the back end of the conversation and with it being Senior night at the Devlin Fieldhouse, I have to think it’s all hands on deck. I’ll take my chances with Tulane at home in this one.
