Tulane vs East Carolina Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/11/23

The East Carolina Pirates and the Tulane Green Wave meet Saturday in college basketball action from Devlin Fieldhouse. East Carolina is 12-12 so far this year. The Pirates beat SMU in their last game. As for Tulane, they’re sitting at 16-7 overall. The Wave beat Cincinnati on Tuesday. East Carolina Pirates 

East Carolina was a pretty mixed bag over their first 18 games, going 10-8 during that time. In the six outings since, the Pirates are 2-4 with losses to Temple, South Florida, Wichita State and South Florida again mixed with wins over Tulsa and SMU. 

Last Saturday versus SMU, East Carolina posted a 40-32 edge in the first half. The Pirates were outscored 40-37 from there but hung on for the win 77-72. Tops in scoring was Brandon Johnson with 27 points and six rebounds. 

Tulane Green Wave

Over on the Tulane side, they managed a pretty good start this year with a 12-5 record across their first 17 outings. The Wave are 4-2 in the last six, losing to Houston and Tulsa before wins over Wichita State, SMU, Memphis and Cincinnati. 

In the Cincinnati game on Tuesday, the Wave scored 28 points in the first half, 55 in the second and 18 in overtime for a comeback win 101-94. Both Kevin Cross (27 points; 15 rebounds) and Jalen Cook (27 points; 14 assists) doubled up in the victory.

I’ll probably stay with Tulane here. The Green Wave got into a little trouble with a tepid first half against Cincinnati, but to their credit Tulane roared back to power out the win in OT. The Wave are looking pretty good during this four-game win streak, and they’ve hit 74 or more points in five straight outings. As for East Carolina, they’re scoring fairly well during this 2-2 stretch; the Pirates have hit 72 or more points in three of those games. I like East Carolina to hang around for a while in this one before Tulane takes over and covers.
