The Temple Owls and the Tulane Green Wave meet Saturday in college basketball action from Devlin Fieldhouse. Temple is 13-8 on the year so far. The Owls lost to South Florida in their last game. Temple hit a 7-6 run to start the year, then managed a win streak over UCF, East Carolina, Tulsa and Cincinnati. The last four have been a 2-2 stretch for the Owls, with wins over East Carolina and Tulsa between losses to SMU and South Florida.
Matched up against South Florida on Monday, the Owls posted just 20 points in the first half and 29 more from there in a 52-49 loss. The team’s only double-digit scorer was Damian Dunn with 11 points, three boards and four assists.
Over on the Tulane side, they’ve had an up-and-down season. The Wave haven’t been able to win more than two consecutive games so far. They’re 1-2 in their last three with a win over East Carolina between losses to Houston and Memphis.
In the Memphis game on Wednesday, the Wave were outscored 30-37 by halftime and 39-43 in the second half for an 80-69 loss. Jaylen Forbes led the way on 24 points and nine rebounds. Jalen Cook would add 11 points and four assists.
Tulane is 6-1 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss. The Wave is 5-1 ATS in their last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Owls are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in the last five after an ATS loss. Temple is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to try Tulane in this one. The Wave have been pretty spotty during this 3-2 stretch, but they’re still doing well in comparable matchups. Tulane has hit 67 or more points in three of their last five games and should score a decent amount here.
As for Temple, they’ve hit 67 or more in two of the last three so I wouldn’t be surprised to see both teams top 70 points in a high-total outing here. Ultimately I think Tulane can bang out the cover, but it should be interesting.
