Tulane vs Tulsa 1/4/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the Tulane Green Wave meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Devlin Fieldhouse. Tulsa is 4-9 overall this year. The Hurricane lost to SMU in their last game. Tulsa was just 2-6 after eight games this year, beating only Jackson State and Loyola IL. The Hurricane are 2-3 since then with losses to LMU, Houston and SMU alongside wins over Central Michigan and MS Valley State. 

In the SMU matchup on Sunday, the Hurricane were outscored 43-36 in the first half. Tulsa didn’t get any closer in a 49-31 second-half deficit and lost 92-67. Sam Griffin led the team on 22 points, and Bryant Selebangue had 21 points.

Over on the Tulane side, they were 5-3 after eight games this year, taking losses to Nevada, Western Kentucky and Fordham. The Green Wave are 3-2 since then with wins over Buffalo, MS Valley State and Memphis. 

Matched up against Memphis on Sunday, Tulane took a 37-37 tie into the second half. The Green Wave outscored the Tigers 59-52 from there in a 96-89 win. Sion James was the leading scorer on 30 points with seven assists and six rebounds. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Tulane here. The Wave are fresh off a nice outing versus Memphis, shooting 48.3 percent from the field with a 40-39 rebounding advantage and 21 team assists. Tulane has been a mixed bag in the record columns lately, however they’ve scored 75 or more points in six of their last seven games. As for Tulsa, they’ve scored 67 or fewer points in four straight games, going just 1-3 in that time. I don’t see the Hurricane keeping up with Tulane if the Wave get going.
