Tulsa vs Central Michigan 12/10/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane meet Saturday in college basketball action from Reynolds Center. Central Michigan sits at 4-5 this year. The Chippewas lost to Robert Morris on Wednesday. As for Tulsa, they’re 2-6 overall and coming off a loss to Detroit. Central Michigan went 2-3 over their first five games this year, losing to Marquette, Minnesota and High Point. The Chippewas hit a 3-2 stretch in the next quintet. The wins in that stretch were over CSU Northridge, Purdue Calumet and Alma. 

On Wednesday versus Robert Morris, the Chippewas trailed 32-25 by halftime. Central Michigan managed 41 points in the second half but still lost 71-66. Jesse Zarzuela led the team on 25 points with two rebounds. 

Over on the Tulsa side, they won two of their first three over Jackson State and Loyola IL. It’s been losses to Charlotte, Murray State, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts and Detroit in the five games since then. 

In the Wednesday matchup versus Detroit, Tulsa was up by three points at the half. The Golden Hurricane couldn’t hold it and were outscored 40-33 in the second in a 76-72 loss. Sam Griffin led the team with his 20 points and seven rebounds. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Tulsa. The Hurricane had a tough second half in their last game versus Detroit. Tulsa ended up shooting 45.3 percent from the field in that one, but hit just 6-of-12 from the line and got out-rebounded 41-39 (18-13 offensive). Still, it was a promising offensive evening after four straight with 66 points or fewer. As for Central Michigan, they flexed their muscles in a couple of easy matchups recently but didn’t look as good against Robert Morris. This one should end up a pretty solid matchup, but I like Tulsa a little better cover-wise.
