The East Carolina Pirates and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane meet in college basketball action from the Reynolds Center on Tuesday night.

The East Carolina Pirates will try to snap this six-game winning streak after an 86-66 loss to Tulane last time out. Tristen Newton leads the Pirates in scoring with 17.5 PPG as well as in assists with 4.9 APG while Vance Jackson has 13.2 PPG and a team-high 6.3 RPG. Brandon Suggs has 10.1 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for ECU so far this season. Brandon Johnson shares the Pirates’ team lead in rebounding, grabbing 6.3 RPG for the Pirates up to this point in the year. As a team, East Carolina is averaging 70 PPG on 40.5% shooting from the field, 33.9% from three-point range and 75.2% from the foul line while allowing 72.2 PPG on 43.4% shooting from the field and 35% from three point range so far this season.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will try to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 67-58 loss to Temple last time out. Sam Griffin has 15.9 PPG while Jeriah Horne has 15.8 PPG with a team-high 6.9 RPG as the Golden Hurricane’s top rebounder and the only other double-digit scorer for Tulsa up to this point in the season. Darien Jackson has 8.3 PPG and Anthony Pritchard’s chipping in a team-high 2.9 APG as well this season. As a team, Tulsa is averaging 67.5 PPG on 43.2% shooting from the field, 33.7% from three and 73.7% from the foul line while allowing 69.1 PPG on 44.6% shooting from the field and 36.8% from three this season.

East Carolina is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss. Tulsa is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games against a team with a losing road record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games against a team with a road winning percentage below .400 while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.

I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m not looking to back East Carolina in any spot, and Tulsa at 7-14 isn’t a team I’m looking to lay points with. Having said that, I think that this ends up being a lower-scoring game between two teams that couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat in the middle of the ocean. This game will be lucky to get past the mid-120s let alone this total. Give me the under.
