The CSU-Fullerton Titans and the UC-Irvine Anteaters meet in college basketball action from the Bren Events Center on Thursday night.
The CSU-Fullerton Titans will look to build on their five-game win streak after a 79-73 win over UC-Santa Barbara last time out. E.J. Anosike leads the Titans in scoring and rebounding with 18.8 PPG and 7.7 RPG while Tray Maddox Jr. has 10.2 PPG with 3.8 RPG and Dante Maddox Jr. has 10 PPG with 3.6 RPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for CSU-Fullerton last time out. Vincent Lee has 9.9 PPG with 5.9 RPG while Damari Milstead has 9.6 PPG with a team-high 2.9 APG to lead CSU-Fullerton in assists as well this season. As a team, CSU-Fullerton is averaging 73.1 PPG on 45.2% shooting from the field, 28.6% from three and 74.6% from the foul line while allowing 67.6 PPG on 43.3% shooting from the field and 37.5% from three this season.
The UC-Irvine Anteaters will look to bounce back after losing four of their last five games after a 72-58 loss to Hawaii last time out. Collin Welp leads the Anteaters in scoring and assists with 15 PPG while also logging 6.2 RPG and Dawson Baker has 11 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for UC-Irvine so far this season. Austin Johnson also has a team-high 6.5 RPG to lead UC-Irvine on the glass. As a team, UC-Irvine is averaging 67.3 PPG on 43.3% shooting from the field, 34.3% from three and 70.1% from the foul line while allowing 58.8 PPG on 37.5% shooting from the field and 27.8% from three this season.
CSU-Fullerton is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. UC-Irvine is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a loss while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record.
I get why UC-Irvine’s favored at home, as the bulk of Fullerton’s recent success has come at home. However, the Anteaters have still lost four of their last five and while the Anteaters are a solid home team, they haven’t played at home since November 20th and it may time to get reacclimated with the rims at home. I’ll take my chances with the Titans and the points here.
