The Pepperdine Waves and the UC-Irvine Anteaters meet in college basketball action from Bren Events Center on Saturday night.

The Pepperdine Waves come into this game looking to build on their 72-67 win over UC-Divas last time out. Houston Mallette leads the Waves in scoring with 15.8 PPG along with 4.5 RPG and 2.5 APG while Jan Zidek has 12.8 PPG with 4.5 RPG and Jade’ Smith has 12 PPG with 5.5 RPG and 3.5 APG this season to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Pepperdine so far this season. Mike Mitchell Jr. has 9.3 PPG with a team-high 4.3 APG as well this season while Keith Fisher III has 7.3 PPG with a team-high 6.3 RPG and Victor Ohia-Obioha has 8.3 PPG with 5.7 RPG as well this season. As a team, Pepperdine is averaging 68.5 PPG on 41.1% shooting from the field, 34.1% from three and 73.5% from the foul line while allowing 73.8 PPG on 46.4% shooting from the field and 35.2% from three this season.

The UC-Irvine Anteaters will look to add to their 100-41 win over subdivision La Verne last time out. Collin Welp leads the Anteaters in scoring with 11.7 PPG along with a team-high 6 RPG and 2.3 APG while Dawson Baker has 10.5 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for UC-Irvine this season. Isaiah Lee has a team-high 2.7 APG as well this season for UC-Irvine. As a team, UC-Irvine is averaging 69.7 PPG on 46.9% shooting from the field, 35% from three and 65.9% from the foul line while allowing 51 PPG on 34.4% shooting from the field and 20.6% from three this season.

Pepperdine is 9-2-2 ATS in their last 13 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS win while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road underdog. UC-Irvine is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win by 20 or more points and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 games overall while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road underdog.

I get the case that could be made both ways, but I’m not overly fond of the idea of laying double digits with UC-Irvine and you never know what you’re going to get from Pepperdine. Instead, I’m going to side with the under as this feels like a first to 65 kind of game so give me the under here.
