The CSU Fullerton Titans and the UC Riverside Highlanders meet Saturday in college basketball action from UC Riverside Student Recreation Center. CSU Fullerton is 12-5 so far this year. The Titans beat UC Davis in their last game. As for UC Riverside, they’re currently 10-6 and coming off a Thursday loss to Long Beach State. CSU Fullerton managed a spotty 4-5 run out of the gate, but it’s been a series of eight straight wins since then. The victories have been versus Life Pacific, Redlands, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Northridge, UCSB, UC Irvine, UC San Diego and UC Davis.
Matched up against UC Davis on Thursday, the Titans scored 30 points in the first half and 44 more in the second on the way to a nice 74-58 victory. Leading team scorer Damari Milstead put up 20 points with 8-of-8 made from the line.
Over on the Highlanders’ side, they went 6-4 over their first 10 games then hit a cancellation pause from December 12 to January 6. Since then it’s been a 4-2 run for UC Riverside. The losses in that stretch have been to UC Irvine and Long Beach State.
Matched up against the Beach on Thursday, UC Riverside was outscored 38-31 in the first half. The Highlanders posted an advantage in the second but it wasn’t enough in a 68-62 loss. Zyon Pullin led the team with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists.
UC Riverside is 2-5 ATS in the last seven Saturday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. The under is 14-5 in UC Riverside’s last 19 overall.
Meanwhile, the Titans are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 5-0 ATS in the last five road games. CSUF is 6-1 ATS in the last seven after a straight-up win.
PICK: I’m going to stick with CSU Fullerton. The Titans are playing quite well during this eight-game win streak. They’ve hit 73 or more points in seven of those outings and they’re generally performing well on the defensive side also. As for UC Riverside, I like them to bounce back from a spotty loss to LBSU here, but I don’t think they’ve got the legs to cover if the Titans play to their capabilities.
