UC Riverside vs UC Davis Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/9/23

The UC Davis Aggies and the UC Riverside Highlanders meet Thursday in college basketball action from UC Riverside Student Recreation Center. UC Davis is 14-9 overall this year. The Aggies beat Hawaii in their last game. As for UC Riverside, they’re sitting at 15-9 on the season following a loss to CSU Fullerton. UC Davis Aggies 

UC Davis had an up-and-down start to the season, going 9-7 over the first 16 outings. The Aggies are 5-2 since then however, beating CSU Fullerton, UC San Diego, Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield and Hawaii along the way. 

In the Hawaii matchup last Thursday, the Aggies took a 37-31 edge into the break. UC Davis hit a 38-32 run the rest of the way in a 75-63 win. Tops in scoring was Elijah Pepper with 29 points, and Ty Johnson added 22 points. 

UC Riverside Highlanders

Over on the UC Riverside side, they were a mildly better 10-6 in their first 16 games. The Highlanders are 5-3 in their last eight, taking wins over UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, Cal Poly and UC San Diego again in that time. 

Back on Saturday versus CSU Fullerton, the Highlanders trailed 32-26 going into the second half. UC Riverside was outscored 33-32 from there and lost 64-58. Lachlan Olbrich was the only double-digit scorer on the team with 10 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably take a stab on UC Davis here. Also probably staying away from this one, though. The Aggies are coming off a nice win over a pretty good Hawaii team, and htey’ve hit 72 or more points in six of their last seven games. The last time these teams met up back on January 19 at the Pavilion, the Aggies took a 74-72 loss. UC Riverside has gone just 1-3 since then however, scoring 63 or fewer points in two of those four outings. I like the Aggies to get a little revenge with a cover/win in this one, but I’m probably not touching it.
