The UC Davis Aggies and the UC San Diego Tritons meet Monday in college basketball action from LionTree Arena. UC Davis enters this one at 10-7 overall. The Aggies beat CSU Fullerton on Saturday. As for UC San Diego they’re 6-11 so far after a loss to CSU Bakersfield. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

UC Davis went 7-5 overall through their first 12 outings. The Aggies lost to LMU, Milwaukee, Pacific, Eastern Washington and UCLA in that time. UC Davis is 3-2 since then with wins over CSUB, CSUN and CSUF.

Matched up against CSU Fullerton on Saturday, the Aggies took a slim 39-37 edge into halftime. UC Davis hit a 44-42 advantage from there and emerged with the 83-79 win. Elijah Pepper was the leading scorer on 29 points.

Over on the UC San Diego side, they were 5-7 through 12 games with wins over California, George Washington, Eastern Michigan, Bethesda and Occidental. The Tritons are 1-4 since then with losses to UCSB, Hawaii, UC Riverside and CSUB.

In the CSU Bakersfield matchup on Saturday, the Tritons were up 30-18 by halftime. UC San Diego faltered on a 38-22 second half and lost 56-52. Both Bryce Pope and Francis Nwaokorie led the team on 16 points apiece.

PICK: I’ll probably stay with UC Davis here. The Aggies are on a decent three-game win streak right now, holding opponents to 54 points or fewer in two of those matchups. UC Davis has scored 66 or more points in four of the last five games themselves. As for UC San Diego, they haven’t been past 68 points in four straight games, losing all four of those. If the Tritons don’t have a great offensive outing here I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up on a cover pace.
