UC San Diego vs UC Irvine 2/15/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UC Irvine Anteaters and the UC San Diego Tritons meet Tuesday in college basketball action from RIMAC. UC Irvine is 11-7 on the year thus far. The Anteaters beat UC Riverside in their last on-court appearance. As for UC San Diego, they’re 11-12 this season and took out UC Riverside over the weekend. UC Irvine managed to go 6-4 over their first 10 games this year, despite playing just once from December 19 to January 13. The last five have all been wins over CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara, CSU Northridge and UC Riverside. 

Matched up against UC Riverside back on February 10, the Anteaters were down by two points by halftime. UC Riverside hit a 43-31 advantage from there in a 66-56 win. Dominick Pickett led the team on 14 points with four rebounds. 

Over on the UC San Diego side, they were sitting at 8-5 back on New Year’s day but the Tritons have hit a 3-7 stretch since then. After wins over CSU Bakersfield and CSU Northridge, the Tritons lost to UC Santa Barbara and beat UC Riverside. 

On Saturday in the UC Riverside game, the Tritons had a three-point lead after the first half. UC San Diego hit a 49-29 run in the second for a nice 85-62 win. Leading scorer Bryce Pope put up 22 points with a pair of rebounds in 40 minutes of work. 

UC San Diego is 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 at home and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. The over is 5-2 in the Tritons’ last seven overall. 

Meanwhile, the Anteaters are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win. UC Irvine is 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with UC Irvine here. The Anteaters have hit more than 66 points just twice during this five-game win streak, but they’re taking care of business on the defensive end. UC Irvine has allowed 56 or fewer points in four of those five games. 

UC San Diego should provide an interesting challenge, though; the Tritons have been at 83 or more points in three of the last four games, so they’re not shy about scoring. I like this one to be a fun, competitive matchup with UC Irvine eking out a cover.
