UC San Diego vs UC Riverside 1/11/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UC Riverside Highlanders and the UC San Diego Tritons meet Wednesday in college basketball action from LionTree Arena. UC Riverside is 10-6 overall this year. The Highlanders beat CSU Northridge in their last game. As for UC San Diego, they’re sitting at 6-9 on the season following a loss to Hawaii. UC Riverside stood at 6-4 after 10 games, losing to Colorado, Creighton, Cal Baptist and Oregon. The Highlanders are 4-2 in their last six games with wins over Portland, CSU Bakersfield, Long Beach State and CSU Northridge. 

Matched up against CSU Northridge on Saturday, the Highlanders took a 22-15 advantage into the second half. UC Riverside posted a 46-30 run the rest of the way in a 68-45 win. Flynn Cameron was tops on 18 points with seven rebounds. 

Over on the UC San Diego side, they were 4-6 after 10 games with wins over California, George Washington, Eastern Michigan and Bethesda. The Tritons are 2-3 in their last five with wins over Occidental and Long Beach State. 

In the Hawaii game last Thursday, the Tritons trailed 35-21 at the break. UC San Diego posted a 28-27 run in the second half but still lost 62-49. Bryce Pope put up 16 points, and Emmanuel Tshimanga added 11 rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with UC Riverside. The Highlanders bounced back well in their most recent outing following a 15-point loss to CSU Fullerton last Thursday. UC Riverside has hit 68 or more points in five of their last six games and shouldn’t have too much trouble scoring in this one. UC San Diego has given up 82 or more points in two of their last three games. The Tritons probably won’t be able to keep a cover pace if UC Riverside gets going.
