The Cal State Northridge Matadors and the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos meet Tuesday in college basketball action from UCSB Events Center. CSU Northridge is sitting at 7-20 overall. The Matadors lost to UC Davis in their last game. As for UC Santa Barbara, they’re currently 14-10 and coming off a win over UC Riverside. CSU Northridge held a 3-3 record through six games this year, but they’ve been far away from the .500 mark since then. The Matadors are currently riding a four-game losing streak versus LBSU, CSU Fullerton, UC Riverside and UC Davis.

Matched up against UC Davis on Saturday, CSU Northridge couldn’t find much offense. The Matadors scored 24 points in the first half and 25 in the second during a 68-49 loss. Christian Gray led the team with 10 points, six boards and three steals.

Over on the UC Santa Barbara side, they were below .500 at 8-9 as recently as February 3. The Gauchos have improved greatly on a 6-1 run since then. They’ve beaten Long Beach State, UC Davis and UC Riverside in the last trio.

On Saturday versus UC Riverside, the Gauchos played it tight the whole way. UC Santa Barbara needed two overtimes to get there, but ended up with a 97-90 win. Ajay Mitchell was tops on the team with 30 points and four assists.

The Gauchos are 6-2 ATS in the last eight and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. UCSB is 5-2 ATS in the last seven Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Matadors are 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 9-25-3 ATS in their last 37 Tuesday games. The over is 7-2 in CSUN’s last nine overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos have shown some major resiliency over the last seven games, and they’ve hit 69 or more points in all six victories. The last time these teams met up, UC Santa Barbara didn’t have much trouble in a 72-45 road win back on January 25. I like the Gauchos to keep their run going and power out a cover here.
