The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners and UCLA Bruins meet Tuesday in college basketball action at the Pauley Pavilion. The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners won 15 games last year and get another season under Rod Barnes. The UCLA Bruins won 22 games last year and enter the third year under Mick Cronin.

The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners lose their top player in Taze Moore, but they return four of their top-five scorers, and that makes them a threat in the Big West. The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners have a chance to improve their win total three years in a row. Shaun Williams returns after averaging 9.3 points and 2.3 rebounds, while Justin Edler-Davis averaged 9.3 points and 0.8 assists. Justin McCall averaged 22.7 minutes per game last season and Shawn Stith averaged 3.5 rebounds.

The UCLA Bruins return four of their top-five scorers, and three of those players averaged double-digit points. UCLA also landed a key Rutgers transfer in Myles Johnson and a 5-star recruit in Peyton Watson. The UCLA Bruins have to like their chances to make a run in the PAC-12 this season. Johnny Juzang returns after averaging 16 points and 4.1 rebounds, while Jaime Jaquez Jr. averaged 12.3 points and 1.7 assists. Tyger Campbell is a third double-digit returning scorer, and Jules Bernard averaged 5.1 rebounds.

The Roadrunners are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Tuesday games. The Bruins are 14-6-1 ATS in their last 21 home games and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The under is 4-1 in Roadrunners last 5 road games. The under is 5-2 in Bruins last 7 Tuesday games.

This should be a fun game between two teams that return a lot of key players and had success last season. The difference here is UCLA is far and away the more talented team and has a chance to make an early statement. If the Cal State-Bakersfield Roadrunners get punched in the mouth early, this could end up being an easy ride for the Bruins in the second half. I’ll lay the chalk with UCLA at home.
