UConn vs DePaul Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 3/1/23

The DePaul Blue Demons and the UConn Huskies meet Wednesday in college basketball action from XL Center. DePaul is sitting at 9-20 overall this year. The Demons lost to Marquette in their last outing. As for UConn, they’re 22-7 so far following a win over St. John’s. DePaul Blue Demons

DePaul started the season on a 9-10 run. Since then it’s been all losses to Providence, Georgetown, Marquette, UConn, Seton Hall, Villanova, St. John’s, Xavier, Butler and Marquette for a 10-game losing streak. 

In the Marquette game on Saturday, DePaul was drilled 49-28 in the first half alone. The Blue Demons got better with 56 second-half points but still lost 90-84. Umoja Gibson led the team on his 20 points and eight assists. 

UConn Huskies 

Over on the UConn side, they started out the year on a 16-6 run through 22 games. The Huskies are 6-1 in their last seven outings with wins over DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Seton Hall, Providence and St. John’s with a loss to Creighton otherwise. 

In the St. John’s game on Saturday, the Huskies took a 50-41 edge into the break. UConn held the pace with 45 points from there and took the win 95-86. Jordan Hawkins topped the team with 20 points and Adama Sanogo added 18 points with nine boards. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stick with UConn here. The Huskies were a mixed bag in the middle of the season, but they’ve been looking great over the last seven outings. UConn has scored 87 or more points in four of those seven during the 6-1 stretch. These teams last met up on January 31 at Wintrust Arena. UConn was up 46-33 by halftime in that one and didn’t have a ton of issues in the road victory. Back at home the Huskies should be able to take care of business pretty easily as well. Unless DePaul makes a push in garbage time this should be UConn’s cover.
