The LIU Sharks and the UConn Huskies meet in college basketball action from the Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday night.

The LIU Sharks will be looking to rebound from an 84-60 loss at the hands of Fresno State in their last game. Ty Flowers leads the Sharks in scoring and rebounding with 17.5 PPG and 5.5 RPG while Eral Penn has 16.5 PPG with 4 RPG and Kyndall Davis has 10.5 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for LIU so far this season. Davis also has a team-high 2.5 steals while Alex Rivera has 1.5 APG this season. As a team, LIU is averaging 62 PPG on 38.5% shooting from the field, 32.2% from three and 73.3% from the foul line while allowing 91 PPG on 50.4% shooting from the field and 35.5% from three this season.

The UConn Huskies will hope to add to an 89-54 win over Coppin State in their last game. Adama Sanogo has a team-high 20 PPG with 7 RPG while R.J. Cole has 15.5 PPG with 3.5 RPG and 4.5 APG. Tyrese Martin has 14.5 PPG with 4 RPG while Jalen Gaffney has 10.5 PPG with a team-high 5.5 APG and Akok Akok has 10 PPG with 7 RPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for UConn in their two games this season. Andre Jackson also has a team-high 7.5 RPG as well this season. As a team, UConn is averaging 94 PPG on 52.9% shooting from the field, 41.9% from three and 72.7% from the foul line while allowing 51 PPG on 33% shooting from the field and 25.6% from three this season.

LIU is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. UConn is 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games while the under is 12-2 in their last 14 games following a win of 20 or more points.

I’d like to give LIU some of the benefit of the doubt as the Huskies just haven’t been a high-scoring team in years past, but the Huskies do a good job of beating up on the lesser teams on their schedule as we saw in their first two games of the season. I’m looking for a convincing showing from UConn once again, pulling away from LIU in this one.
