The Marquette Golden Eagles and the UConn Huskies meet Tuesday in college basketball action from XL Center. Marquette comes into this one at 19-5 overall. The Eagles beat Butler in their last game. Marquette Golden Eagles
Marquette lost to only Purdue, Mississippi State, Wisconsin and Providence in their first 16 games this year. The Golden Eagles have since gone 7-1 with wins over Georgetown, UConn, Providence, Seton Hall, DePaul, Villanova and Butler.
In the Butler game on Saturday, the Eagles managed a 32-20 edge in the first half. Marquette was outscored 32-28 from there but still won 60-52. Tyler Kolek was the lead scorer on 13 points and eight assists.
UConn Huskies
Over on the UConn side, they lost to only Xavier and Providence in their first 16 games. Since then the Huskies are a sketchy 4-4 with wins over Creighton, Butler, DePaul and Georgetown alongside losses to Marquette, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Xavier.
On Saturday versus Georgetown, UConn went into halftime with a 31-31 tie. The Huskies hit a 37-31 run in the second and won it 68-62. Both Adama Sanogo and Tristen Newton scored 15 points apiece to lead the team.

I’m going with UConn. You could make a good case here either way, though; it should be a good matchup. The last time these teams met up back on January 11, Marquette powered out an 82-76 victory. Both teams shot well in that one (48.3 percent for UConn and 50.8 for Marquette) and the Huskies had a 35-29 rebounding advantage. UConn did have 16 turnovers though, which didn’t help. The Huskies haven’t been the most reliable team in the world lately but they’ve won three of their last four. If UConn can get off to a good start in this one I think they’ll have a decent shot at a cover. Should be a great matchup.
