UMass vs Towson 11/10/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Towson Tigers and the UMass Minutemen meet Thursday in college basketball action from Mullins Center. Towson is 1-0 so far following a win over Albany in their first outing. Towson posted a pretty good regular-season run last year with a 25-9 overall record and a 15-3 mark in the CAA. The Tigers managed a regular season conference co-championship, but fell to Delaware in the tournament and Wake Forest in the First Round of the NIT. 

In their first action of the season back on Monday, Towson jumped out to a 38-28 halftime lead versus Albany. The Tigers were able to hang on from there for a 67-62 win. Sekou Sylla was tops in scoring with 19 points, nine rebounds and two assists. 

Over on the UMass side, they managed to go just 15-16 in 2021-22 with a 7-11 run in Atlantic 10 Conference games. The Minutemen landed just four spots out of the basement in the standings, then fell to Dayton in the A-10 Tournament to finish the campaign. 

UMass got off to a good start versus Central Connecticut on Monday. The Minutemen outscored the Blue Devils 41-33 in the first and 53-34 in the second for a 94-67 blowout win. TJ Weeks was the top team scorer on 16 points, three boards and two assists. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with UMass. The Minutemen weren’t exactly matched up with elite competition in their first game of the season, but they didn’t have much trouble in the blowout win. UMass had a half-dozen players in double-figure scoring during the victory, which should help with experience in these first few games. As for Towson, they faded a bit in the second half against Albany but still powered out a nice win. UMass will mark a step up in competition, however.
