UMKC vs North Dakota State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/16/23

The North Dakota State Bison and the UMKC Roos meet Thursday in college basketball action from Swinney Recreation Center. North Dakota State comes into this one at 11-15 so far. The Bison lost to Denver in their last game. North Dakota State Bison 

North Dakota State managed to go a sketchy 7-11 over their first 18 games this year. The Bison are 4-4 in their last eight outings however, beating Omaha, North Dakota, Omaha again and Denver during that time. 

In the Denver matchup on Saturday, North Dakota State went into the locker room with a 30-28 deficit. The Bison recovered on a 50-40 second half and won it 78-70. Leading scorer Boden Skunberg posted 30 points with seven rebounds. 

UMKC Kangaroos 

Over on the UMKC side, they were 7-12 across their first 19 games of the year. The Roos are also 4-4 in their last eight though, beating North Dakota State, Omaha, Denver and Western Illinois in that stretch. 

In the St. Thomas MN matchup on Saturday, the Kangaroos were down 34-20 by halftime. UMKC didn’t end up getting any closer on a 39-23 second-half deficit and lost 73-43. RayQuawndis Mitchell topped the team on 11 points and six boards in the defeat. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with North Dakota State in this one. Also probably not going near it. The Kangaroos are a rough 1-3 in their last four games, and they’ve scored 66 points or fewer in all three of the losses during that time. The good news for UMKC is that they were able to power out a 75-73 victory the last time these teams met back on January 21 at Scheels Center. The bad news for the Roos is that North Dakota State has consecutive wins and they’ve scored 78 or more points in three straight outings. If the Bison can keep the offense moving I think they’ve got a good cover/win shot.
