The St. Thomas (MN) Tommies and the Kansas City Roos meet in college basketball action from the Swinney Recreation Center on Thursday night.

The St. Thomas (MN) Tommies will be out to snap a five-game losing skid after an 81-52 loss at the hands of Western Illinois last time out. Riley Miller leads the Tommies in scoring with 16.4 PPG along with 2.7 APG while Anders Nelson has 15.9 PPG with a team-high 3.2 APG and Parker Bjorklund has 12.5 PPG with 6.4 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for St. Thomas (MN) this season. As a team, St. Thomas (MN) is averaging 76.2 PPG on 44.2% shooting from the field, 38% from three and 74.7% from the foul line while allowing 73.2 PPG on 51.3% from the field and 37% from three this season.

The Kansas City Roos will look to keep the ball rolling after winning five of their last six games after an 83-75 win over Western Illinois. Evan Gilyard II leads the Roos in scoring and assists with 15.3 PPG and 2.9 APG while Josiah Allick has 11.7 PPG with 5.5 RPG. Marvin Nesbitt Jr. has 10.6 PPG with a team-high 6.5 RPG to lead the Roos on the glass and Arkel Lamar has 12.3 PPG with 6 RPG in 12 games to make up the group of double-digit scorers for UMKC so far this season. Anderson Kopp also has 9.6 PPG for UMKC on the year. As a team, UMKC is averaging 72.9 PPG on 46.8% shooting from the field, 34.8% from three and 66.8% from the foul line while allowing 64.3 PPG on 43.4% shooting from the field and 30.2% from three this season.

St. Thomas (MN) is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road underdog. Kansas City is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a favorite.

I get the case to be made for the Tommies here, as they’ve made quite the impact in their first season after a historic jump from D-III to D-I. However, the scoring’s cooled off for St. Thomas in their last couple of games and while UMKC is far from a world-beater, they’ve been consistent offensively for the majority of conference play and I see the Roos doing enough to bag a win and a cover in this one.
