UNC Wilmington vs High Point 12/18/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The High Point Panthers and the UNC Wilmington Seahawks meet Sunday in college basketball action from Trask Coliseum. High Point is 8-2 on the year. The Panthers lost to Queens NC in their last game. High Point has losses to UNLV and Queens NC so far this year. Otherwise the wins have been over Pfeiffer, Wofford, Lees-McRae, Central Michigan, Tennessee State, Elon, North Florida and Furman. 

In the Queens NC game back on December 9, the Panthers posted a 44-38 advantage in the first half. High Point was outscored 49-35 in the second and ended up losing 87-79, though. Lead team scorer Abdoulaye Thiam posted 16 points. 

Over on the UNC Wilmington side, they went 1-3 over their first four games with only a win over Allen. The Seahawks have since won seven straight over Mount Olive, Missouri State, Vermont, North Texas, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina and Jacksonville. 

In the Jacksonville game last weekend, the Seahawks posted a 34-19 advantage in the first half. UNC Wilmington scored another 47 points from there and won 81-53. Tan White was tops on the team with 17 points and eight rebounds. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with UNC Wilmington. This should be a decent matchup, though. The Seahawks are coming off a nice win over a decent Jacksonville team last weekend and they’ve played well during this seven-game win streak. UNC Wilmington has scored 68 or more points in five of those matchups. As for High point, they’ve done well on the scoreboard themselves with 68 or more points in every game so far. I like this one to be a high-scoring, competitive affair. Should be a fun game.
