Hofstra went a sketchy 8-6 over their first 14 games this year, then hit a few postponements during a pause in late December/early January. Since then it’ been a 5-1 run with wins over James Madison, Delaware, Drexel, Northeastern and Charleston.
Matched up against Charleston on Thursday, the Pride scored 39 points in the first half and 37 more in the second on the way to a tight 76-73 victory. Leading Hofstra scorer Aaron Estrada finished on 30 points, five rebounds and seven assists.
Over on the UNC Wilmington side, they went just 3-5 over their first eight games this year. The Seahawks have since hit a win streak versus Mount Olive, High Point, Campbell, Delaware, Elon, Charleston, James Madison, Towson and Northeastern (twice).
In Thursday’s matchup versus Northeastern, the Seahawks managed a five-point halftime lead. UNC Wilmington scored 33 more from there in a 67-62 victory. Jaylen Sims led the team on 20 points, and Shykeim Phillips put up 17 points as well.
The Seahawks are 4-0 ATS in their last four at home and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Saturday games. UNCW is 9-0 ATS in their last nine overall.
Meanwhile, the Pride are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 overall and 20-6 ATS in their last 26 Saturday games. Hofstra is 38-18-1 ATS in their last 57 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with UNC Wilmington here. The Seahawks are rolling right along on this nice 10-game win streak. UNCW has put up 70 or more points in eight of those games and they’ve been quite solid against the spread as well.
As for Hofstra, they’ve scored 71 or more in four straight games and are sure to make this thing interesting. Should be a really fun game to watch, and I think UNC Wilmington can eke into the cover.
