The William & Mary Tribe and the UNC Wilmington Seahawks meet Monday in college basketball action from Trask Coliseum. Here’s a UNC Wilmington vs William & Mary prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best UNC Wilmington vs William & Mary pick.
William & Mary Tribe Betting Preview
The Tribe opened up the season on a rough stretch of games, but since early December they’ve been able to right the proverbial ship and they’re playing well. William & Mary only won three of their first nine outings versus Dickinson PA, Norfolk State and Georgia Southern. Otherwise it was losses to Radford, Winthrop, NC Central, NC State, App State and Old Dominion in that time. Since then the Tribe have really cleaned up their act on an 8-1 record. The lone win in those games was versus VCU. The wins conversely came abasing Virginia Lynchburg, Richmond, Navy, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Elon, North Carolina A&T and Hampton, resulting in an 11-7 overall record for William & Mary through the first 18 games of the year.
In the Hampton matchup on Thursday, the Tribe entered the second half holding on to a 27-22 advantage. William & Mary were outscored 42-40 the rest of the way, but managed to stay in front for a 67-64 victory in the end. Leading the charge was Matteus Case with 18 points and two rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench. Kyle Pulliam added 13 points with three rebounds in 12 minutes of bench work. The top-scoring starter was Malachi Ndur with seven points.
UNC Wilmington Seahawks Betting Preview
Over on the UNC Wilmington side, they’ve been quite the steady team so far this year. The Seahawks have just one instance of consecutive losses so far—with one of those coming to a great Kansas squad. UNC Wilmington opened with wins over Mount Olive, Georgia Southern and USC Upstate before that loss to the Jayhawks, then another one versus Colgate. The Seahawks went 7-1 in the next eight with a lone loss to Howard among wins over Sam Houston, App State, East Carolina, Marshall, Florida Gulf Coast, UNC Asheville and Spartanburg Methodist. Since then it’s been a 3-2 stretch with losses to Towson and Hofstra among wins over Campbell, Monmouth and Northeastern otherwise for a solid 13-5 overall record through their first 18 outings so far this year.
Matched up against Northeastern in their Thursday outing, the Seahawks held a slim three-point lead 39-36 by the break. UNC Wilmington kept it up in the second with a 41-36 run and took the eventual win 80-72. Sean Moore led the team with his 15 points, six rebounds and two assists. Harlan Obioha doubled up on 12 points with 10 boards and three assists, while Noah Ross came off the bench to contribute 14 points with three rebounds in 24 minutes of work.

UNC Wilmington vs William & Mary Prediction
I’ll stay with UNC Wilmington. The Seahawks managed to dispatch a decent Northeastern team in their last outing despite giving up 53.7 percent shooting from the field. UNC Wilmington held a 34-30 rebounding edge and otherwise capitalized on 20 points off 16 Huskies turnovers. The 80 points were a welcome total for UNC Wilmington following a pretty meager 127 total points across their previous two games combined. That makes fewer than 65 points in three of the last five games (a 3-2 run) for UNC Wilmington, so it’d be nice to see them finish north of 70 points or so here.
As for William & Mary, they didn’t get much production from their starters in their latest win over a middling Hampton team. That quintet combined for just 19 points. Still, the victory kept the train rolling despite halting a streak of 70 or more points in 10 straight games. I like Monday’s matchup to be a good one, with UNCW eking one out in the end. Should be fun to watch if both teams play well.
