The Colorado State Rams and the UNLV Rebels meet Saturday in college basketball action from Thomas & Mack Center. Colorado State sits at 21-3 on the year. The Rams beat New Mexico in their last game. As for UNLV, they’re currently 15-11 and beat Fresno State in their most recent appearance. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Colorado State hit a 16-1 run to start the year, then lost consecutive games to UNLV and Wyoming in late January. Since then it’s been a win streak over San Diego State, Nevada, Fresno State, Boise State and New Mexico.
In the Thursday matchup versus New Mexico, the Rams were down by two points at halftime. Colorado State hit a 43-26 run in the second half for an 83-68 win. David Roddy topped the team on his 31 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
Over on the UNLV side, their year began on a 10-8 run heading into late January. Since then UNLV is 5-3 over their last eight outings. The wins in that time have come over San Jose State, Colorado State, Nevada, Air Force and Fresno State.
Matched up against Fresno State back on Wednesday, the Rebels held a slim 33-31 lead at halftime. UNLV kept up the pace from there in a 60-57 victory. Bryce Hamilton was the leading scorer on his 17 points with seven boards and four assists.
UNLV is 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 1-8 ATS in their last nine Saturday games. The under is 5-1 in the Rebels’ last six at home.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. Colorado State is 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games.
PICK: I’m going to take Colorado State in this one. The Rams’ last non-overtime loss was to UNLV back on January 28. Colorado State shot a decent 43.1 percent in the 88-74 defeat, but was outpaced in rebounds (37-28) and team assists (16-15) in addition to UNLV’s 50.9 percent shooting.
The Rams have been on a nice run (with a couple of close calls) during this five-game win streak. I like Colorado State to get some revenge here on a cover. Should be a very fun game to check out.
