The North Dakota State Bison and the UNLV Rebels meet in college basketball action from the Thomas & Mack Center on Monday night.
The North Dakota State Bison will be looking for a road win to add to their 2-0 start after a 60-57 win over Cal Poly last time out. Rocky Kreuser leads the Bison in scoring and rebounding, averaging a double-double per game with 20 PPG and 10 RPG while Grant Nelson has 15 PPG and 7.5 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for North Dakota State through their first two games of the season. Jairus Cook has 8.5 PPG and Tyree Eady has 8 PPG while Andrew Kallman has a team-high 3 APG this season. As a team, North Dakota State is averaging 74 PPG on 44.4% shooting from the field, 29.6% from three and 77.8% from the foul line while allowing50.5 PPG on 37.9% shooting from the field and 37% from three this season.
The UNLV Rebels will look to build on their 55-52 win over Cal from their previous matchup. Bryce Hamilton leads the Rebels in scoring with 17 PPG along with 4.5 RPG while Royce Hamm Jr. has 12.5 PPG and a team-high 12 RPG to make up the pair of double-digit scorers for UNLV through their first two games of the season. Donovan Williams also has 9 PPG and 4.5 RPG for the Rebels so far this season. As a team, UNLV is averaging 59.5 PPG on 33.8% shooting from the field and 22.2% from three-point range and 78.1% from the foul line while allowing 55 PPG on 37.6% shooting from the field and 20.6% from three this season.
North Dakota State is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a win and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 road games against a team with a winning home record. UNLV is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Monday games.
This should be an interesting matchup between two teams that have started well from a win-loss standpoint, but not necessarily from a cover standpoint. With that said, I think this game is going to be a battle and I could make the case either way, but I’m leaning towards UNLV at home here. The Rebels just played the tougher pair of games so far this season and I just envision this one breaking down as a back and forth game that UNLV pulls away late in at the free throw line, so I’ll lay the points with the Rebels here.
