The Wyoming Cowboys and the UNLV Rebels meet in college basketball action from the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday night.
The Wyoming Cowboys will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last six games after a 73-66 loss to San Diego State last time out. Graham Ike leads the Cowboys in scoring and rebounding with 20.3 PPG along with 9.8 RPG while Hunter Maldonado has 18.9 PPG with 5.6 RPG and a team-high 6.3 APG as well this season. Drake Jeffries has 10.7 PPG with 5.3 RPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Wyoming up to this point in the season. The UNLV Rebels will attempt to bounce back after having a three-game win streak snapped with an 86-76 loss to Boise State last time out. Bryce Hamilton leads the Rebels in scoring with 21.9 PPG while Donovan Williams has 13.1 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for UNLV so far this season. Royce Hamm Jr. has 8.4 PPG with a team-high 9.3 RPG to lead the Rebels on the glass and Jordan McCabe is dishing out a team-high 4.9 APG as well this season. Wyoming is 22-10-2 ATS in their last 34 games overall and 29-10 ATS in their last 39 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. UNLV is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.
I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m leaning towards Wyoming here as there’s simply more at stake for the Cowboys I feel. Boise State has the Mountain West title almost locked up and Wyoming can’t catch the Broncos, but there’s a lot more at stake from a seeding perspective in the upcoming conference tournament. UNLV’s stuck in the middle and it is senior day so it will be an added motivation for UNLV, but I feel that Wyoming’s the better team here. Give me the Cowboys and the points.
