The Long Beach State Beach and the USC Trojans meet Sunday in college basketball action from Galen Center. Long Beach State sits at 6-4 overall this year. The Beach took out Life Pacific in a blowout during their last outing. As for USC, they fell to 5-3 with a loss to Gonzaga last weekend. Let’s get into our Long Beach State vs. USC prediction. Long Beach State Beach

The Beach alternated wins with losses over their first seven games this year, beating DePaul, Michigan and Iona while falling to Portland, San Diego State, Illinois State and Louisiana otherwise. Long Beach State has since won three straight over Montana State, Sacramento State and Life Pacific, though. 

In the matchup versus Life Pacific back on Wednesday, the Beach were up comfortably 50-34 by halftime. After another 38 points in the second, Long Beach State ended up with an 88-66 victory. Leading the team were Varick Lewis and AJ George, each with 12 points off the bench.

USC Trojans 

Over on the USC side, they managed a 5-2 run over their first seven games. The losses came to UC Irvine and Oklahoma, with wins otherwise versus Kansas State, CSU Bakersfield, Brown, Seton Hall and Eastern Washington. In the 106-78 win over the Eagles, the Trojans shot a nice 57.1 percent from the floor. 

USC had the misfortune of running into a great Gonzaga team last weekend in their most recent appearance. The Trojans were down by seven points at the break and didn’t end up getting closer in an 89-76 loss. Boogie Ellis was the team’s top scorer on 28 points, four assists and seven rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE LONG BEACH STATE VS USC PREDICTION 

I’ll probably take a stab on Long Beach State. The Beach have been a bit erratic so far this year, but when they’re on LBSU has a pretty high ceiling. In their last outing, Long Beach State pulled down 51 rebounds and shot a solid 46.1 percent from the field (with a sketchy 19.2 percent from 3-point range). The Beach have hit 75 or more points in five straight games, going 4-1 in that time. 

As for USC, they gave up 52.3 percent shooting to Gonzaga in their last outing but shot pretty well themselves (47 percent). The Trojans have notched 70 or more points in five straight games, so this one should be a pretty high-octane matchup if both teams are on. I think LBSU can battle their way into a cover, though.
