Utah State vs Santa Clara 11/14/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Santa Clara Broncos and the Utah State Aggies meet Monday in college basketball action from Smith Spectrum. Santa Clara is 2-0 following a win over Georgia Southern in their last outing. Santa Clara kicked off the season with a matchup versus Eastern Washington The Broncos scored 44 points in the second half and escaped with an 84-72 win. Brandin Podziemski led the team on 30 points, nine boards and two assists. 

In game two versus Georgia Southern, the Broncos kept it up with another victory. Santa Clara hit a 42-25 first-half advantage and ended up with a 78-62 win. Podziemski again led the charge with 34 points and 11 boards. 

Over on the Utah State side, they didn’t have a ton of trouble with Utah Valley in their opener. The Aggies posted 41 points in the first half and cruised to the 75-58 result. Sean Bairstow posted 19 points, and Taylor Funk had 18 points with 14 rebounds. 

In their second outing of the year versus Bradley, the Aggies notched 45 points in the first half and took an 84-62 victory. Steven Ashworth led the way on 28 points, and Daniel Akin doubled up with 10 points and 11 boards. 

PICK: I’m probably going to take a stab on Utah State. This is looking like a pretty fun matchup though, and I could go either way. The Aggies are off to a nice start, and they’re getting solid contributions from a handful of different players. That will help here against Santa Clara, who has been relying on a couple of names to do most of the scoring through two games. I like Utah State to put up a versatile effort here and power out a cover. Should be an intriguing matchup and an entertaining game overall, though.
