The Southern Utah Thunderbirds and the Utah State Aggies meet in college basketball action from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Tuesday night.

Southern Utah Snags First Win

The Southern Utah Thunderbirds come into this one off of their first win in a 108-73 win over subdivision Life Pacific last time out. Parsa Fallah leads Southern Utah across the board with 15.5 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 3 APG while Dominique Ford has 14 PPG with 4 RPG and 2.5 APG. Braden Housley has 13.5 PPG with 6 RPG and Zion Young and Prophet Johnson each have 12.5 PPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Southern Utah up to this point in the year. Young has 5 RPG and Johnson has 6 RPG and 2.5 APG as well on the year. As a team, Southern Utah is averaging 90 PPG on 46.3% shooting from the field, 36.4% from three and 70.4% from the foul line this season.

Utah State Loses To Bradley

The Utah State Aggies come into this one off of their first loss of the season after a 72-66 OT loss to Bradley last time out. Great Osobor leads the Aggies in scoring and rebounding with 18 PPG and 8 RPG with 3.5 APG as well while Darius Brown II has 11.5 PPG with 4.5 RPG and a team-high 7.5 APG to lead the Aggies in the assist department. Josh Uduje has 11.5 PPG and Isaac Johnson has 10 PPG with 5.5 RPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Utah State so far this season. As a team, Utah State is averaging 83.5 PPG on 47.4% shooting from the field, 35.4% from three and 68.6% from the foul line this season.

I’m going to take a shot on Southern Utah here. I just don’t see much separating these two teams at least by this many points. Sure, Southern Utah’s loss to Cal State Bakersfield is worse than Utah State’s to Bradley, but both only have a win over a subdivision opponent and both have similar numbers shooting from the floor so far this year so I’ll take the boatload of points with Southern Utah here.
